The embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, faces escalating legal woes as the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, orders the withdrawal of police officers assigned to his protection.
This development comes amidst mounting pressure from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which has declared Bello wanted for alleged financial crimes amounting to ₦80.2 billion. The EFCC's pursuit has led to the Nigerian Immigration Service placing Bello on its watchlist, intensifying efforts to apprehend him.
Despite preparations for arraignment before a Federal High Court in Abuja, Bello managed to evade arrest, further complicating the ongoing investigation.
