APC spokesperson Felix Morka confirms that all members, including Nasir El-Rufai, were notified about the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja. Key figures attended, but notable absentees included Buhari and Osinbajo. The meeting, the first under Tinubu, follows internal party tensions over democracy concerns.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that invitations for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting were duly sent to all party members, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. APC spokesperson Felix Morka made this clarification while speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, on Wednesday night.

The NEC meeting, held on Blantyre Street, Abuja, saw the presence of key figures such as President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Several governors and former state executives were also in attendance. However, notable absentees included former President Muhammadu Buhari, ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

The meeting marked the first NEC gathering since Tinubu took office in May 2023 and followed a national caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa. Some party chieftains, including El-Rufai and ex-National Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman, have previously raised concerns about internal democracy within the APC.

Despite speculation surrounding their absence, Morka maintained that all members had been notified in advance, dismissing claims of exclusion. The development has fueled discussions on internal party dynamics, with analysts speculating on potential rifts and political realignments within the ruling party.
