CAF announces dates for AFCON Morocco 2025 (Dec 21, 2025 - Jan 18, 2026) and WAFCON Morocco 2024 (July 5, 2025 - July 26, 2025), highlighting growth in women's football and ensuring competitive scheduling amidst international fixtures.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the dates for two major tournaments: the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 and the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024. AFCON 2025 will kick off on December 21, 2025, with the final match set for January 18, 2026. Meanwhile, WAFCON 2024 will start on July 5, 2025, and conclude on July 26, 2025.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe expressed confidence in the success of both tournaments, emphasizing the growing prominence of women's football in Africa. The announcement, although delayed due to complex scheduling issues, marks a significant step forward for African football. Additionally, the CAF Executive Committee has decided to host the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Kinshasa, DRC, on October 10, 2024.
They also opened bids for several other competitions, including the CAF Women’s Champions League 2024, U17 AFCON, U20 AFCON, and the CAF Awards 2024. CAF has also received enticing offers from the Middle East to host the CAF TotalEnergies Super Cup 2024, featuring Al Ahly SC and Zamalek SC.
