The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 39 cases of Mpox (monkeypox) across 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) this year, with Bayelsa, Cross River, and Ogun among the hardest-hit areas. In response, the NCDC is ramping up surveillance and has placed ports and borders on high alert to detect and manage new cases swiftly.

The agency is also considering vaccination for high-risk groups, with 10,000 doses of the Jynneos vaccine expected to arrive soon. Meanwhile, contact tracing efforts are ongoing to curb the spread of the virus across the country.
