Luigi Mangione, 26, is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York. Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where police discovered a 3D-printed gun, silencer, and a manifesto condemning the American healthcare system.

According to reports, Mangione had previously considered bombing Manhattan to target Thompson but rejected the idea due to concerns over harming innocent people. Instead, he chose to attack with a more precise method, opting to kill Thompson during a financial conference. A notebook found on Mangione included a "to-do list" that detailed his planning for the shooting.

In a manifesto, Mangione expressed deep frustration with the U.S. healthcare system, particularly its profit-driven motives, and criticized insurance companies for putting financial gain over patient care. Mangione's writings also suggested he viewed himself as a hero challenging the industry's corruption. The manifesto further contained statements that referred to the attack as a form of justice, with Mangione calling his actions a response to the exploitation of patients by healthcare corporations.

Mangione, who is being held without bail, is set to face charges of second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. His lawyer, Tom Dickey, has stated that there is no concrete evidence linking Mangione to the shooting, and he is expected to plead not guilty. Authorities continue to investigate the manifesto and the suspect’s motivations for the attack.
