Six Nigerian tourists, including David James Udoh and Lily Dada, have been detained at Sal International Airport in Cape Verde under false human trafficking accusations. Friends claim they are being denied legal rights and mistreated by authorities. Calls for intervention have been raised to secure their release.

Six Nigerian tourists have been detained in Cape Verde on allegations of human trafficking, according to claims made by one of their friends on social media. The tourists, identified as David James Udoh, Lily Dada, Oghenero Adaware, Sherifat Abimbola Ogundairo, and Jesutomi Aina, have reportedly been locked up at Sal International Airport.

The allegations were raised by Tobi Ojenike, a friend of the detained group, who took to social media to warn others. Ojenike stated that Cape Verdean authorities were falsely accusing the group of human trafficking and attempting to deport them without due process. She further mentioned that the group had been denied access to legal counsel and was subjected to mistreatment by the police.

Ojenike called for immediate intervention, alleging that the Cape Verde government was attempting to expel the group under pretenses, aided by an unnamed individual. She appealed for help, expressing concern over the safety of her friends and the lack of action from the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States).

The incident has sparked growing concerns, especially given the treatment described, and calls for immediate action from Nigerian and international authorities to secure their release and ensure their rights are upheld during the investigation.
