Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has pledged N100 million in aid to victims of the devastating tanker explosion that occurred on January 18 at Dikko Junction in Niger State. The explosion, which tragically claimed the lives of over 80 people and caused extensive property damage, has left many families in dire need of assistance.
During her visit to Minna, the state capital, Tinubu offered a donation to support the families affected by the incident. She revealed that the funds would be distributed to approximately 70 families, with each receiving N1 million to help cover their immediate needs. Additionally, the remaining funds would go towards purchasing food and other essential supplies.
In her address, Tinubu commended Governor Umaru Bago for his efforts in rehabilitating the affected communities, particularly in the agricultural sector, which has seen significant improvements under his leadership. She also praised his work alongside his wife, Hajiya Fatima Bago, in coordinating relief efforts.
Governor Bago expressed his gratitude for the First Lady’s gesture, calling it a morale booster for the victims. The visit also served to strengthen the resolve of the affected families, offering them hope for recovery.
