The Digest:
The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned until March 25 the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai against the ICPC and four others. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned to allow parties to regularise their processes. El-Rufai is demanding N1 billion in damages from the ICPC, Chief Magistrate of FCT Magistrate Court, Inspector-General of Police, and Attorney-General of the Federation. The former governor alleges that the February 19 invasion and search of his Abuja residence violated his fundamental rights to dignity, personal liberty, fair hearing, and privacy. He seeks a declaration that any evidence obtained from the search is inadmissible and an order for the return of all seized items. In response, the ICPC argued that operatives acted under a valid search warrant issued February 18, executed in the presence of el-Rufai's wife and son.
