Senior Advocate of Nigeria seeks withdrawal from Yahaya Bello's N80.2bn fraud case, citing procedural issues and requests for case transfer, amidst repeated court absences.

Adeola Adedipe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has moved to withdraw his representation of Yahaya Bello, former Kogi governor, amid mounting legal complexities. Bello faces charges of money laundering and misappropriation totaling N80.2 billion but has repeatedly failed to appear in court.

Adedipe, at a recent court session, cited procedural issues and requested the case's transfer to Kogi State. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) countered, urging the court to hold Adedipe accountable for Bello's absence, arguing it undermines judicial integrity.

The judge is deliberating on the EFCC's request as tensions escalate over the handling of Bello's legal proceedings.
