Nigerian singer Naira Marley has responded after being officially cleared of any involvement in the death of his former signee, Mohbad. On February 25, 2025, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) issued legal advice exonerating Marley and others, including music promoter Sam Larry, Primeboy, and Mohbad’s former manager Opere Babatunde.
The legal decision was implemented at the Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, where Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje declared that there was no substantial evidence linking them to the tragedy that shook the entertainment industry in September 2023.
Following the announcement, Naira Marley took to social media to express his relief and gratitude. He shared a verse from the Quran on X, stating, “And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him” (Quran 65:3). On Instagram, he added another verse about divine justice, emphasizing that God's plans always prevail over human schemes.
He also reshared a fan’s message highlighting the struggles he endured, facing widespread backlash and public condemnation. The post praised his resilience, noting that he stood alone in the face of accusations but ultimately emerged vindicated.
Since Mohbad’s death, Naira Marley has faced intense scrutiny, with many social media users canceling him and unfollowing his accounts. However, with his name now cleared, the artist may be looking to rebuild his reputation and career in the Nigerian music industry.
