Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan claims APC members are behind her recall petition, accusing INEC of assisting the petitioners in perfecting their submission. Addressing her supporters, she alleges the petition is politically motivated and criticized the electoral body for guiding the process, despite the petition’s initial errors.
Embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are behind the recent petition to recall her from office. The suspended lawmaker, elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is assisting the petitioners in perfecting their submission despite errors in the initial filing.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the first petition lacked important details like addresses and phone numbers, but INEC helped the petitioners correct these deficiencies. During a homecoming rally where she received a warm welcome from her supporters, she further accused the APC members of submitting a petition with a fabricated address. Akpoti-Uduaghan argued that this whole recall process is a politically motivated attempt to remove her from the Senate.
While INEC acknowledged the petition and confirmed the missing information was later provided, Akpoti-Uduaghan maintains that the electoral body is complicit in guiding the petitioners through the process. Despite the controversy, her supporters continue to rally behind her, expressing confidence that she will prevail in the face of these efforts to recall her.
