In response to Nigeria’s pressing challenges, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are set to lead a national prayer session aimed at seeking divine intervention. This initiative, announced by Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), is a collaborative effort involving both Christian and Muslim leaders, emphasizing the need for unity in addressing the country’s multifaceted issues.

The prayer event, themed “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” will take place at significant venues across the nation. Muslims will gather at the National Mosque in Abuja for a week-long prayer session, during which 313 individuals are expected to recite the Qur’an 2,191 times, focusing on national stability. Simultaneously, Christians will convene at the National Ecumenical Centre, engaging in fervent prayers to tackle the adversities plaguing the nation.

Afolorunikan expressed optimism that these collective prayers would empower both leaders and citizens to confront Nigeria’s common challenges. He underscored the importance of unity in finding lasting solutions and expressed hope that the nation could enter 2025 with renewed purpose and stability.

Extensive outreach has been conducted, involving consultations with leaders from various religious groups and traditional authorities to ensure a comprehensive approach to this spiritual initiative. However, reactions from Nigerians have been mixed, with many expressing skepticism on social media. Many argue that the prayer session is merely a distraction from the government's failure to deliver on its promises, urging leaders to prioritize tangible actions over spiritual appeals. Many believe that genuine governance and accountability are needed to address the pressing issues facing the nation, rather than relying solely on divine intervention.
