Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) took their protests to the doorstep of the National Assembly (NASS) in Abuja, highlighting the dire economic challenges faced by Nigerians.
Carrying placards and voicing concerns about rising living costs, the protesters were met with unexpectedly open gates at the NASS, allowing them entry without resistance. NLC President Joe Ajaero emphasized that the demonstrations were not merely about the minimum wage but a stark expression of the pervasive hunger in the country.
Ajaero conveyed the union's dissatisfaction with the government's failure to address their demands, especially in the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal. Despite last-minute attempts to halt the protests, the NLC asserts its commitment to raising awareness about the severe economic hardships faced by the citizens.
