The NCAA has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation for regulatory violations, including falsifying documents. This action follows a tragic crash in October 2024, highlighting the NCAA's commitment to safety and compliance in Nigeria's aviation sector.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the licenses of two aviation companies, Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation after they were found guilty of breaching aviation regulations. Both companies violated Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs), which prohibits the falsification or alteration of documents such as licenses, logbooks, and reports.
As a result, the NCAA has officially withdrawn the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of Omni-Blu Aviation, a Lagos-based helicopter operator primarily involved in offshore transportation for the oil and gas industry, and Eastwind Aviation, which also provided helicopter services to the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. This decision follows a thorough review and is in line with the NCAA’s strict efforts to maintain high safety and regulatory standards in the aviation industry.
The revocations come on the heels of a tragic incident in October 2024, where an Eastwind Aviation helicopter crashed off the coast of Calabar, leading to the loss of lives. The NCAA emphasized the importance of compliance with safety regulations and the integrity of aviation documentation to prevent such incidents.
The revocations demonstrate the NCAA’s commitment to ensuring that aviation operations in Nigeria meet the highest safety standards. Both companies are now grounded, and the NCAA has warned that any future violations will result in similar actions.
