NDIC will begin paying the first tranche of liquidation dividends to Heritage Bank depositors in April 2025. Following the revocation of the bank's operating license, the NDIC assures depositors of prompt payments and urges those still awaiting funds to submit necessary documentation for reimbursement.
The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has confirmed it will begin paying the first tranche of liquidation dividends to Heritage Bank depositors starting in April 2025, following the revocation of the bank’s operating license by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in June 2024. Mr. Bello Hassan, NDIC Managing Director, shared this update at the 36th Enugu International Trade Fair on April 9, 2025.
Represented by Mrs. Pamela Robert, Hassan assured depositors that the NDIC has the financial capacity to reimburse them as assets are recovered from the failed bank. The NDIC emphasized its swift response to the bank’s closure and its successful track record in paying liquidation dividends to depositors of 20 previously failed banks.
Hassan also urged those still awaiting payment to provide the necessary documentation, including Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) and alternate bank account details. Despite the challenges some depositors face, such as KYC limitations and mismatched names, the NDIC has pledged to ensure all depositors receive their due payments.
