The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has announced a training program for 500 Data Protection Officers (DPOs) under its Data Protection Training and Certification initiative. This initiative aligns with Nigeria's strategic plan to enhance digital skills, create job opportunities, and address growing demands for data privacy professionals in the digital economy.

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has initiated a program to train 500 Data Protection Officers (DPOs) under its Data Protection Training and Certification scheme. This effort seeks to address the increasing demand for skilled professionals in data privacy and is part of the NDPC's strategic roadmap for 2023–2027.

In a statement issued on Monday, the NDPC highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government's agenda to bolster digital skill acquisition and generate employment opportunities within the growing digital economy. The program is a key component of the Nigeria Data Protection Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan, aiming to develop a workforce that can meet the evolving challenges in data protection.

The NDPC emphasized the limited availability of slots and urged interested participants to register via the provided link to secure their spots. This training program not only aims to equip participants with essential skills but also fosters job creation, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of generating 2 million jobs in the digital sector.

Earlier this year, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NDPC to train 5,000 youths in data privacy and protection, showcasing the government’s commitment to fostering expertise in this critical area.

By empowering individuals with advanced data protection knowledge, the NDPC’s initiative contributes significantly to strengthening Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and addressing the growing concerns surrounding data privacy.
