NECO has released the 2024 SSCE External results, with 67.35% of candidates passing with five credits, including English and Mathematics. The council blacklisted 14 exam centres and penalized supervisors for malpractice. NECO vows to maintain exam integrity, warning against misconduct. Results are available on the official NECO portal.
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has published the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for external candidates. Out of 84,799 candidates who participated, 67.35% secured at least five credits, including Mathematics and English.
Speaking at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, the Registrar, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, noted that the results were released 62 days after the last exam. He stated that 44,227 male candidates (52.21%) and 40,522 female candidates (47.78%) sat for the examination.
Addressing examination malpractice, Wushishi revealed a decline in cases, with 6,160 candidates involved compared to 8,518 in 2023, reflecting a 27.7% reduction. He warned that supervisors caught assisting in cheating would not only be blacklisted but also reported to other examination bodies, including JAMB.
Additionally, seven supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor oversight and aiding malpractice. NECO also sanctioned 14 exam centers across Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi for widespread misconduct.
Wushishi reiterated NECO’s commitment to preserving examination integrity and ensuring fair assessments for all candidates. He urged students to check their results via the official NECO website.
