The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), showing that 60.55% of candidates achieved credits in English and Mathematics. The results reflect a decrease in malpractice cases, with 8,407 incidents reported compared to 12,030 in 2023.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has published the results for the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), revealing that 828,284 candidates, or 60.55%, achieved credits in both English Language and Mathematics. This year's examination had a total of 1,376,436 registered candidates, with 1,367,736 actually sitting for the exam.

During a press conference in Minna, Niger State, NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, shared details of the results. He noted that 83.90% of candidates obtained five credits or more, irrespective of whether they passed English or Mathematics.

The results come roughly two months after the conclusion of the examinations, which took place between June 19 and July 26, 2024, followed by a marking period from August 19 to September 8, 2024.

Wushishi highlighted that cases of examination malpractice decreased significantly, with 8,407 candidates involved this year compared to 12,030 in the previous year. Additionally, 40 schools were implicated in widespread cheating across 17 states, and 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to misconduct during the exams.
