The Digest:

The magistrate court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, driver of the crashed Lexus SUV involving former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, to March 17, 2026. Kayode appeared before the court on Wednesday for trial bordering on reckless driving. However, prosecution counsel R.D. Kadiri informed the court that more time was needed to gather evidence and witnesses, stating the case file had been forwarded to the Ogun Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) by the police. Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun granted the adjournment. The case had previously been adjourned from January 20 to February 25 to enable prosecutors seek legal advice. The December 29, 2025 crash, which occurred around the Sinoma area near Sagamu, claimed the lives of Joshua's close associates Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Joshua survived with minor injuries.

Key Points:
  • The adjournment delays justice for families of the deceased victims.
  • It highlights the slow pace of legal proceedings in traffic fatality cases.
  • Victims' families await closure, while driver remains under legal scrutiny.
  • This signals the need for expedited handling of fatal accident cases.
  • The timing, with evidence gathering ongoing, prolongs uncertainty.
Court adjourns Anthony Joshua driver's trial to March 17 as prosecution seeks more evidence in fatal crash that killed two associates.
