Ahead of schedule, Aba Power Ltd, a subsidiary of Geometric Power, is poised to provide electricity to consumers in the Aba Ring-fenced Area, a move directed by Professor Bart Nnaji, the company's Chairman.
The early power provision comes as Geometric Power commissions its 188 Megawatt thermal plant in Aba. Initial supply is set at 47MW, almost double the current 25MW received from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
The second turbine is expected to increase supply to 94MW, meeting Aba's energy needs. This development attracts attention from major firms like Neimeth Pharmaceuticals, contemplating relocating to Aba pending substantial electricity improvement.
Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu underscores Geometric Power's potential as a model for Nigeria's power sector development, marking progress in enhancing industrial power supply for Aba and promoting regional economic growth.
