A 12-year-old girl in Tennessee faces murder charges after allegedly suffocating her cousin during a dispute. Captured on security footage, the incident involved tampering with evidence. Authorities seek to try her in adult court for a lengthier sentence.

A tragic incident in Humboldt, Tennessee, has led to a 12-year-old girl being charged with murder after she allegedly suffocated her younger cousin. The chilling event was captured by a security camera inside the bedroom they shared on July 15, revealing the older girl using bedding to suffocate the victim as she slept on the top bunk.

After the younger girl died, the suspect cleaned up the scene and repositioned the body. The alleged motive behind the act was an argument over an iPhone. Authorities, after obtaining the video evidence, charged the girl with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Gibson District Attorney Frederick Agee described the crime as one of the most disturbing acts his office has ever prosecuted. He plans to petition for the girl to be tried in adult court, which could result in a lengthier sentence. The case highlights the severity of juvenile violence and the potential for serious legal repercussions.
