Tola Odeyemi, the newly appointed CEO of Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), has defied the protests and shut down by aggrieved workers and taken up her post. She was appointed to the position by President Bola Tinubu, following the removal of Adeyemi Adepoju.

Odeyemi's appointment had sparked protests from NIPOST workers who were against her appointment, preferring that Adepoju be allowed to continue his reforms at the agency. They believed Adepoju had made significant improvements in his tenure.

The president of the National Union of Postal and Telecommunication Employees, Buba Nehemiah, stated that the workers wanted Adepoju to continue his good work, and his removal would disrupt the progress made so far

Nevertheless, Odeyemi entered the office on Monday, assumed her role as CEO, and held meetings with top directors. Her appointment has made her the first female to lead NIPOST.

Despite the initial backlash and protests, it seems Odeyemi has begun her duties and will work on implementing environmental policies and addressing the challenges associated with waste management and climate change in the country.
