A tragic incident unfolded in Lagos State when 30-year-old Motunrayo Olaniyi allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death during a domestic dispute. After the altercation, he set their home ablaze. Motunrayo sustained injuries and is now in police custody as investigations continue.

In a tragic incident at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Lagos State, a 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, allegedly killed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, following a domestic dispute. The violent altercation occurred on Friday and escalated to Motunrayo stabbing Olajumoke, 25, multiple times.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, Motunrayo locked Olajumoke in their room and then set it on fire before inflicting wounds on himself. Emergency responders who arrived at the scene extinguished the flames and discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body, which had significant abdominal injuries.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the details, stating that officers received a distress call about a domestic altercation. Upon arrival, they found Olajumoke deceased and Motunrayo injured but alive. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment before being placed under police custody.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had a heated argument that led to the fatal stabbing. The police have since deposited Olajumoke’s body at the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing. This tragic event has raised concerns about domestic violence, prompting calls for increased awareness and preventive measures within communities.
