Nicki Minaj defended Lil Wayne after he was snubbed for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in favor of Kendrick Lamar. In a heated post, she criticized Jay-Z for allowing personal grudges to influence the NFL’s decision, highlighting the importance of recognizing Wayne's contributions to the music industry.
Nicki Minaj recently expressed her support for Lil Wayne after he was passed over for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, with Kendrick Lamar being named the headliner instead. In a fiery post on X, Minaj seemingly targeted Jay-Z, who is a co-producer for the NFL event.
Minaj criticized the decision, accusing Jay-Z of allowing personal feelings towards her, Birdman, and Drake to influence the choice. She emphasized that denying Lil Wayne, a pivotal figure in the rap industry, the recognition he deserves is a reflection of Jay-Z's ego. “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” she wrote.
The rapper further expressed her frustration, suggesting that Jay-Z's wealth has not brought him happiness and that his spitefulness is detrimental to the culture. She referenced the loyalty shown by Eminem, who invited 50 Cent to perform during the Super Bowl, highlighting a stark contrast in the treatment of artists based on race.
Birdman also chimed in on the matter, sharing his disappointment regarding the NFL's decision. He affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the contributions of the Young Money family are recognized and respected. While Lil Wayne has not yet publicly commented on the situation, his supporters, including Master P and Cam'ron, have also voiced their disapproval of the NFL's choice.
