On January 23, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu launched a groundbreaking ceremony for a new defense complex in Abuja, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The new complex, named after the President, aims to provide a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub of excellence for the military.

During the ceremony, President Tinubu praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their resilience, courage, and dedication to safeguarding the nation’s freedoms. He emphasized that the complex would symbolize the country’s respect for the military and further strengthen its operational capabilities. The President also assured that the first phase of the project would be completed within his administration’s tenure, aligning with the “Renewed Hope” agenda.

The event also highlighted Nigeria’s increasing focus on local defense production. President Tinubu noted the progress made in manufacturing Tactical Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) domestically, which would not only enhance military efficiency but also stimulate economic growth. He commended the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and other local firms for their contributions to these advancements.

Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede both expressed gratitude for the President’s support and reiterated their commitment to protecting the nation. The ceremony, held shortly after Armed Forces Remembrance Day, underscores the administration’s dedication to improving national security.
