Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has revealed that new head coach Eric Chelle plans to implement an aggressive, high-pressing playing style as Nigeria prepares to face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Chelle, who was appointed in January, is set to take charge of his first official games with the Super Eagles. While his coaching experience at the top level remains limited, his approach emphasizes intense pressing and quick ball recovery to disrupt opponents early in the game.

Speaking in an interview, Omeruo stated, “From my conversation with the coach, I know we are going to press. We don’t have to give the other team confidence to build their game. When we let them play, they get confident. We have to put them on their toes from the start.”

Victor Osimhen also shared insights into Chelle’s expectations, emphasizing the coach’s demand for full commitment from players. “He said anyone who does not run or fight for every ball will not play,” Osimhen revealed.

Despite Omeruo being out of the squad due to fitness concerns, his comments provide a glimpse into the Super Eagles' tactical shift under Chelle. With fans eager for results, the upcoming qualifiers will serve as a crucial test of the new approach.
