Emirates Airlines is poised to resume its flights to Nigeria in June this year, as indicated by the federal government. This development comes nearly two years after the airline halted flights to Nigeria due to various issues, including challenges in repatriating funds.
Emirates suspended its flights from Nigeria starting September 1, 2022, citing difficulties in resolving financial issues with the Nigerian authorities. However, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, revealed on the Arise Morning Show that Emirates is on the verge of resuming flights to Nigeria.
He disclosed that the airline had addressed the requirements and would announce the resumption date soon. While progress has been made in resolving financial matters, there are still pending issues such as visa and work permit bans between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Bilateral discussions are ongoing to address these concerns, with hopes of resolving them soon.
