President Bola Tinubu has undertaken a major cabinet reshuffle, sacking five ministers and nominating seven new ones for Senate confirmation. The move, long anticipated, was officially confirmed on Wednesday. Among those dismissed are Uju-Ken Ohanenye, the Minister of Women's Affairs; Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism; and Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education. Others affected include Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

In addition to the dismissals, President Tinubu has reassigned 10 ministers to new portfolios. Notably, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has been nominated as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Nentawe Yilwatda has been named as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing suspended Betta Edu.

Other nominees include Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry, and Idi Maiha for the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development. Yusuf Ata has been nominated for Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, while Suwaiba Ahmad is set to be the Minister of State for Education.

In a statement, the presidency emphasized the importance of these appointments in driving the administration’s agenda for Nigeria’s growth. President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service and urged the new appointees to dedicate themselves to the nation’s progress.
