Folashade Oluwafemiayo of Nigeria has broken her own world record in women's over 86kg Para-Powerlifting, lifting 166kg and winning gold at the Paralympics. This achievement contributes to Nigeria's total medal count of seven, showcasing the nation's growing prominence in Para-sports and inspiring athletes worldwide.

Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has made history by breaking her world record in the women's over 86kg Para-Powerlifting category. Lifting 166kg, she surpassed her previous mark of 165kg and secured a gold medal at the Paralympics. Oluwafemiayo’s victory brings Nigeria’s total medal count to seven at the event.

The achievement is celebrated alongside other Nigerian Paralympic triumphs, including Flora Ugwunwa’s silver in the Women's Javelin F54 category with a throw of 19.26 meters, and Bose Omolayo’s silver in the Women’s 79kg Para-Powerlifting. Their performances continue to solidify Nigeria’s prominence in the Paralympic Games, with immense pride expressed by officials, including Nigeria's Sports Minister Senator Enoh, who lauded the athletes’ dedication and resilience.
