In a recent announcement on a Channels TV program, Minister of Education Tahir Mamman revealed the Federal Government's intention to broaden its suspension of degrees accreditation and evaluation to additional countries beyond Togo and Benin Republic.
Expressing concerns about dubious institutions operating undercover in Uganda, Kenya, and Niger, Mamman emphasized the government's determination to combat certificate forgery.
He declared that individuals patronizing such institutions are considered criminals, and security agents will pursue Nigerians with fake certificates from foreign countries.
The move follows revelations of a certificate racketeering syndicate in neighboring countries, leading to the suspension of degree evaluations from Benin Republic and Togo.
Mamman highlighted specific institutions involved in fake degrees within Nigeria and stressed the global nature of certificate forgery. The government aims to crack down on these fraudulent practices and bring perpetrators to justice
