Former Yobe State Governor, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, passed away at the age of 75 at a Saudi-German Hospital in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Serving as governor during the Third Republic from January 1992 to November 1993, he was re-elected in 1999 and governed for two terms under the All-Nigeria People’s Party. Afterward, he served as a Senator for Yobe East from 2007 to 2019.
The late senator is survived by two wives, 17 children, and grandchildren. His wife, Hon Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, currently represents Tarmuwa/Gulani/Damaturu/Gujba in the House of Representatives. Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim's funeral arrangements will be handled by the Yobe State government, according to Governor Mai Mala Buni, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a significant one for the state.
The late governor's burial will take place in Saudi Arabia.
