Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, has declared that he has never accepted a bribe throughout his career in the police. This statement came in response to a question from a verified user who asked him to swear by his "village deity" that he had never taken a bribe since joining the force.

The question arose after Adejobi emphasized that police administrative bail should be free and that individuals should not pay for it. He stated that if someone demands bail money, they should ask for an invoice or receipt to prove the payment, and if it cannot be provided, they should not pay, as it constitutes fraud.

In response to the question about bribery, Adejobi affirmed that he had never accepted a bribe since joining the police force in 2005. He attributed his integrity to his background as a crowned prince of Owu and stated that it would be "ridiculous" for him to accept bribes. He added that he even rejects gifts and appreciates the goodwill of Nigerians.

While Adejobi asserts his commitment to integrity, the Nigerian Police Force has faced numerous cases of officers involved in extortion and corruption. Public trust in the police force has been eroded, with many Nigerians expressing skepticism about police conduct. A 2016 report even rated the Nigerian Police Force as the worst in the world in terms of addressing internal security issues.
