The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has highlighted the importance of social media as a key tool for law enforcement. Speaking at the fifth edition of the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH) in Lagos, Adejobi emphasized the need for digital-savvy police officers to harness the power of social media in solving crimes. He noted that social media should not only be seen as a platform for entertainment but as a valuable resource to make communities safer by engaging with its vast user base.

Adejobi spoke on the topic “The Digital Detective: Solving Crimes in the Social Media Age,” stressing that with the right skills, police could utilize social media platforms to gather vital information that aids criminal investigations. The event also featured discussions on the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in social media. Digital communication professional Dotun Babatunde explained the role of AI in shaping social media, noting its ability to amplify sensational content and influence user engagement. He urged users to engage with AI thoughtfully, acknowledging both its benefits and drawbacks.
