Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amidst rising tensions following the killing of military personnel in Okuoma community. Assuring that the situation is now under control, Governor Oborevwori stated that there will be no further attacks. Despite meeting with security heads in Bomadi Local Government Area, the governor was unable to engage with the affected community as it was deserted.
The violent incident in Okuoma resulted in the deaths of a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers, with the attackers still at large. Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has ordered an immediate investigation and arrest of the culprits.
Following the tragedy, residents fled to neighboring Ughelli for safety, with reports of arson in Okuama and a nearby Bayelsa community. While the Nigerian Army has distanced itself from the arson, the fallen heroes' identities have been unveiled as investigations into the incident continue.
