The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, asserted that many kidnapping incidents reported on social media are fabricated by victims seeking to extort their families.
During an event in Ibadan, he revealed that the security challenges in Nigeria are not as severe as portrayed on social media, suggesting that much of the information circulated is recycled and regenerated.
Adejobi urged Nigerians to collaborate with law enforcement in addressing insecurity.
Despite this perspective, a coalition of Civil Society Organisations reported significant casualties and abductions during the first eight months of
President Bola Tinubu's administration, calling for a state of emergency on the country's security situation.
