The Akwa Ibom government has purchased all 30,000 tickets for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, offering free entry to fans. Governor Umo Eno aims to boost home support for the struggling Super Eagles. The NFF will also give free jerseys to the first 500 ticket holders.

In a bid to rally support for the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, the Akwa Ibom State Government has announced free match tickets for Nigeria’s upcoming fixture against Zimbabwe. The initiative, spearheaded by Governor Umo Eno, aims to ensure a packed stadium at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.

Paul Bassey, the state’s sports commissioner, revealed that the governor had personally secured all 30,000 tickets for distribution at select venues across the state, including radio stations and designated sales centers. The gesture comes at a critical time for the Super Eagles, who are struggling in the qualifiers with just one win in five matches. Nigeria currently sits fourth in Group C, trailing South Africa, Benin Republic, and Rwanda. A victory against Zimbabwe is crucial to reviving the team's hopes of making it to the World Cup.

Adding to the excitement, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged to reward the first 500 ticket holders with Super Eagles jerseys. Fans and analysts have praised the state government’s decision, seeing it as a strategic move to create an electrifying atmosphere and push the national team toward victory.
