The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle, appointing new generals to key positions, including Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and General Officers Commanding (GOCs). This strategic move aims to strengthen the army’s capacity in tackling emerging security challenges and combating terrorism.
The Nigerian Army has undergone a major reshuffle, with General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), approving the appointments of several new senior officers. The changes aim to enhance the army's ability to address emerging security threats and strengthen its fight against terrorism and insurgency.
Among the key appointments is GM Mutkut, who has been appointed the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), succeeding his position at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre. OT Olatoye has been named the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Udoka, moving from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry. EF Oyinlola has been appointed GOC of 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, and AGL Haruna will now lead 7 Division and Sector 1 of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai.
Additionally, IA Ajose takes over as GOC 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fasan Yanma. The reshuffle also includes other significant appointments such as LA Fejokwu as Chief of Administration (Army), GU Chibuisi as Chief of Civil Military Affairs, and AS Ndalolo as Chief of Training (Army).
Army spokesperson Onyema Nwachukwu emphasized that the newly appointed officers are expected to bring renewed commitment and expertise to their respective roles. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering Nigeria's security forces and improving their operational efficiency.
