National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has transferred 58 rescued kidnap victims to the Kaduna state government. The victims—28 women, 24 men, and six children—were freed during a joint operation led by the Nigerian Army, supported by other security agencies.
During the handover ceremony, Ribadu emphasized the federal government’s commitment to restoring security nationwide. He praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing national security and ensuring the safe return of abducted citizens. He also commended the Kaduna state government for collaborating with federal security agencies.
The victims were reportedly held in captivity for several months, primarily in locations along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, including the Rijana general area. Ribadu assured that ongoing efforts would further curb insecurity and strengthen public safety.
Gold Chibuisi, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing among security agencies. Sani Kila, Chief of Staff to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, expressed gratitude to the NSA for facilitating the safe return of the victims.
Adamu Laka, National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), revealed that intelligence-led operations played a crucial role in securing the victims’ freedom. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate criminal activities across the region.
As security forces continue their operations, authorities remain optimistic that such efforts will significantly reduce kidnappings and improve public safety in Nigeria.
