Former senator Shehu Sani humorously comments on Nigerian lawmakers' fitness levels following the Kenyan parliament incident. Sani suggests Senate President Akpabio and Ahmad Lawan might struggle to flee protesters like Kenyan MPs did.

In a lighthearted jab at Nigerian political figures, former senator Shehu Sani recently took to social media to comment on the fitness levels of prominent lawmakers. His remarks came in the wake of dramatic scenes in Kenya, where parliamentarians were seen fleeing from protesters who had stormed the senate building.

Sani, known for his outspoken nature, playfully suggested that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Senate President Ahmad Lawan might struggle to match the sprinting abilities of their Kenyan counterparts. The former lawmaker didn't hold back, stating, "When I watched the Kenyan senators running, I know that Saraki is physically fit to run, but I'm not sure of Senators Lawan and Akpabio."

The comment, while humorous, touches on the broader issue of physical fitness among political leaders. Sani went on to praise former senator Dino Melaye's agility, noting his ability to "jump and climb trees," while playfully suggesting that Ben Bruce might be better suited for a catwalk.

This commentary comes against the backdrop of intense protests in Kenya over a controversial finance bill. The situation escalated to the point where lawmakers reportedly had to escape through underground tunnels as demonstrators breached the parliament building.

As of now, neither Akpabio nor Lawan have responded to Sani's playful jabs. However, the incident has sparked conversations about the importance of health and fitness in political leadership, as well as the ability of leaders to connect with and respond to public sentiment.
