Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has reassured Nigerians of the federal government’s active response to ongoing security challenges. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that high-ranking officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, are deeply engaged in addressing the issue, often working around the clock.
Tunji-Ojo highlighted improvements in national security since President Bola Tinubu took office, noting the progress made by military forces against threats like Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP). He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting Nigerians, stating, “No one is resting — we are all focused on tackling this problem.”
He also referenced a recent attack by a new extremist group in Sokoto and Kebbi states, urging Nigerians not to rush to conclusions about Tinubu’s administration. He assured the public that the President is fully aware of the nation’s security needs and that the government’s actions reflect a genuine commitment to the nation’s safety.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, the minister maintained that significant advancements have been achieved compared to previous conditions. He called for patience, underscoring that though there is more work ahead, the administration is steadily moving toward a more secure Nigeria.
