Nigerian singer K-Peace has accused Nigerian Idol organizers of failing to promptly deliver his N7.5 million prize, a car, and a Dubai trip after winning the show in 2015. He claims he struggled financially post-show while waiting for his rewards. The organizers have yet to respond to his allegations.
Kunle Ogunrombi, popularly known as K-Peace, has alleged that the organizers of Nigerian Idol failed to deliver on the prizes he won after emerging victorious in the show's fifth edition in 2015.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, K-Peace claimed he was promised a cash prize of N7.5 million, a brand-new car, and a two-week trip to Dubai. However, he stated that the fulfillment of these rewards was repeatedly delayed, leaving him in financial distress despite winning a national competition.
The singer expressed frustration, revealing that he struggled to survive after the show. He recalled attending media interviews with an empty stomach and navigating Lagos without the financial security he had expected from his victory.
K-Peace further alleged that whenever he inquired about the prize money and car, organizers made excuses, saying the car was still being branded. He also lamented the emotional and financial toll the experience took on him.
While he did not clarify whether he eventually received the full prize, his statements have sparked discussions about transparency in reality show competitions.
The Nigerian Idol organizers are yet to respond to the allegations.
