Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has broken the women’s 150m world record, clocking 15.85 seconds at the Adidas Atlanta City Games, becoming the first woman to run the race in under 16 seconds.

  • Ofili shattered the previous 150m world record of 19.07s set by Shaunae Miller in 2018.
  • The 22-year-old took the lead early, finishing far ahead of runner-up Tamari Davis.
  • This victory adds to Ofili’s 200m African record and Commonwealth Games bronze medal.

In a post-race interview, Ofili credited her faith, coach, and training regimen: “The Lord is good… I know I put in the work.” Her calm mindset and trust in preparation helped her race “like it is 100m,” she said.

Ofili’s record-breaking performance may redefine women’s sprint standards globally. Will she continue this form at the Paris Olympics and cement her place in athletic history?
