Nigerian content creators, like Isaac Olayiwola and Korty EO, are gaining global recognition while staying true to their roots. They are expanding their audiences on platforms like TikTok and YouTube, securing brand deals, and showcasing Nigerian culture through engaging comedy and innovative storytelling.

Rolling Stone recently highlighted a new generation of Nigerian content creators who are making waves on global platforms like YouTube and TikTok, gaining popularity while staying true to their African roots. Comedian Isaac Olayiwola, known as Layi Wasabi, recently traveled to London to film skits and test his stand-up comedy, aiming to broaden his audience beyond Nigeria. Alongside Olayiwola, creators like Korty EO and Taaooma are also expanding their reach internationally, focusing on maintaining the essence of their Nigerian culture in their content.

Korty EO, with over 300,000 YouTube subscribers, creates emotionally resonant content, including docuseries with Afrobeats artists and dating shows. Her goal is to showcase Nigerian stories on a global stage. Similarly, Taaooma, who plays multiple roles in her skits, parodies Nigerian social norms and aspires to create films that appeal to both Nigerian and Western audiences.

These creators are not only entertaining millions but are also securing lucrative brand deals as they continue to grow their influence. Olufemi Oguntamu, a Nigerian influencer manager, highlights that while various content genres are thriving in Nigeria, comedy, in particular, has a unique ability to quickly gain popularity. These rising stars are setting their sights on global success while ensuring that Africa remains at the center of their work.
