Senate President Akpabio predicts Nigeria will be unrecognizable by the end of President Tinubu's tenure. His statement at the Kugbo Bus Terminal launch garnered mixed reactions on social media, reflecting doubt and support for Tinubu's leadership and vision for Nigeria's future.
In a bold and optimistic declaration, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has stated that by the end of President Tinubu's tenure, Nigeria will undergo such profound transformations that it will be unrecognizable. Speaking at the flag-off of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, Akpabio expressed his confidence in Tinubu's leadership, saying, “I have no doubt that by the time the president is through with his tenure in the country, seven years from today, many people will not recognize FCT, they will not recognize Nigeria again. So, all I can say is: let us continue to pray for him and be hopeful that you will see the challenges you see today, tomorrow, no more.”
Akpabio also praised President Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), commending the president's foresight in selecting capable leaders. “So, I believe that you are a square peg in a square hole and I must thank the President for having the eyes to pinpoint those who can perform and bring them,” Akpabio stated. He highlighted the significance of the new bus terminal project, noting its potential to alleviate traffic congestion and improve security. Drawing parallels to Tinubu's achievements in Lagos, Akpabio remarked, “He did it in Lagos and today, Lagos is one of the best; one of the largest economies in Africa when we are talking about cities.”
Nigerians on social media have reacted with a mix of skepticism and support. One user commented, “You are right Sen. Akpabio. Chief Tinubu will disfigure Nigeria beyond recognition.” Meanwhile, others found the statement laughable, and some agreed with Akpabio. Others outright rejected the notion with a firm “God forbid you, people.” The reactions reflect a divided public opinion on the impact of Tinubu's tenure.
