Former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has expressed his support and best wishes to Nigerian Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya, ahead of his ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon without losing a game.
Onakoya, the founder of Chess in Slums Africa, aims to empower illiterate children across Africa through his remarkable feat, scheduled to take place from April 17 to April 19 in Times Square, New York City.
Osinbajo, in a message shared on his official X page, commended Onakoya's resilience and spirit, urging him to showcase the strength and determination that define him as a proud Nigerian.
The current Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon stands at 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds, achieved by two Norwegians in 2018. Chess in Slums Africa, known for promoting education and raising champions from low-income communities, continues to make strides in leveraging the game of chess as a tool for social change.
