Nigerians may soon purchase Dangote petrol at prices ranging from N857 to N865 per litre as the NNPC prepares to lift petrol from Dangote Refinery. This development aims to alleviate fuel costs, with expectations of improved availability and competitive pricing in the market.

Nigerians may soon find relief at the petrol pump as Dangote petrol is expected to sell between N857 and N865 per litre. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) is set to start lifting this product from the Dangote Refinery today.

NNPCL confirmed plans to lift petrol at a rate of N960 to N980 per litre, selling it to marketers at N840 to N850 per litre. However, it's unclear whether these prices will remain consistent across filling stations nationwide. The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, Olufemi Soneye, announced the deployment of trucks and personnel to the refinery for the scheduled lifting on September 15, 2024.

At least 100 trucks have reportedly arrived at the refinery for petrol loading, with the number potentially increasing to 300 by Saturday evening. Olufemi Adewole, Executive Secretary of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), expressed optimism about lifting petrol and awaiting clarification on the pricing model.

The Finance Minister, Wale Edun, emphasized that structuring transactions in Naira would alleviate pressure on the local currency and improve the availability of petroleum products. The Federal Government's initiative aims to streamline the sale of crude to local refineries while purchasing petroleum products in Naira, fostering a more sustainable energy market for Nigerians.

As the market prepares for these changes, consumers are hopeful for more affordable fuel prices shortly.
