The Federal High Court in Lagos postponed its judgment on the case involving socialite Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, due to the Sallah holiday on Tuesday.

Bobrisky was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for naira abuse and was convicted on April 5 after pleading guilty to the criminal charge. However, the sentencing, originally scheduled for April 9, was deferred as the court ordered Bobrisky to be remanded in EFCC custody until the sentence was pronounced.

The court was unable to proceed with the case due to the public holidays declared by the Federal Government to mark Sallah. A new date for the proceedings will be communicated to the parties involved. The EFCC had filed six counts against Bobrisky, alleging naira mutilation and money laundering. The convict pleaded guilty to four counts, and the court struck out the remaining two counts upon the EFCC's application.

The prosecutor urged the court to convict Bobrisky, citing evidence presented by prosecution witness Bolaji Temitope. The charges accused Bobrisky of tampering with the sum of ₦400,000 while dancing during a social event, among other financial irregularities. The offences contravene sections 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007 and 19 of the Money Laundering Act 2022.
