Following a recent dispute, Stephen Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver, apologized to Alex Ikwechegh, a Aba North/South representative in Abia State. The incident occurred during a package delivery when a misunderstanding reportedly led to Ikwechegh assaulting the driver. In a video statement on Thursday, Abuwatseya expressed remorse, stating he may have provoked the lawmaker, and requested forgiveness from both Ikwechegh and Nigerians, urging the public to move past the episode. Abuwatseya also thanked his family and supporters, emphasizing the need for unity in the country.

Previously, Ikwechegh had come under fire after a video surfaced showing him allegedly slapping and insulting Abuwatseya outside his Abuja residence. The confrontation started when Abuwatseya requested that the lawmaker come outside to receive a package. Amid backlash, Ikwechegh publicly apologized, acknowledging his actions and expressing regret. He stated that his behavior fell short of the standard expected of a public servant, regardless of any provocation. He shared that he and Abuwatseya had since resolved the issue through a "mutual and respectful" agreement, signaling an end to the dispute.

Social media users, however, reacted with skepticism. Many speculated that Abuwatseya’s apology was prompted by threats or financial incentives, sparking wider discussions on justice and societal issues in Nigeria.
