Former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder John Obi-Mikel made a special appearance as a guest at the UEFA Champions League draw held in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. Invited by UEFA, Mikel conducted the draws for both the quarter-final and semi-final stages.
This draw marks the last for the current format of the Champions League before transitioning to a 36-team format next season. During the event, Mikel expressed his desire to see an English club reach the final, given that the final will be held in Wembley, England.
He specifically mentioned hoping for Manchester City or Arsenal to advance.
Notably, Mikel joins a select group of Nigerian players, including Finidi George and Kanu Nwankwo, who have won the prestigious Champions League title in their careers.
