The British Council in Nigeria has once again increased the examination fees for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), marking the second hike within the same year.
After a significant 29% rise earlier, the latest adjustments reveal substantial increases, with IELTS on computer academic and general training modules now priced at N266,000, causing concern among prospective test-takers.
This move has raised worries among students and professionals seeking academic and career opportunities abroad, as the IELTS exam is widely recognized and required by institutions and employers in English-speaking countries.
The British Council cites evolving market dynamics and increased costs as reasons for the fee adjustments, which will take effect from March 1, impacting those aiming to showcase their English language proficiency for international pursuits.
